:)Well Lara, your probably right. I drink a pot of coffee in the morning. It gets me going numerious times, and also helps with my getting my bowels working. It makes little sense, but the two are connected in some way. I've tried keeping logs on all aspects of this crazy s***. What I've found is there is no ryhme or reason in any of it. I only know how my body seems to be operating, and this is the best I can come up with for now. When I was at MaryFreebed, the head fella said I was a anomaly. He said that my cord was probably abnormal from birth. He said the good news was that since I was abby-normal I was able to acheive things that many in my condition could not. Tons of work on my abs and core probably didn't hurt either. I know it helped with walking.

To be honest kilg0retr0ut, you know your body better than anyone so what works for you sounds good...

Thanks Lara, I hope it works out as well. I told my urologist what I was doing and she did a test?, said it was OK. She is the same person who botched my vasectomy so hopefully she's right. I also want to thank you for finding and posting the information. Mark
Interesting that drinking screws you up, it does the same to me, generally I can tap & void, but after a few beers, nothing seems to work and I have to cath . . .
Yeah how much do you empty in the morning sherry? You have to be careful not to let your bladder get too full!
Hi again, you must have jinxed me the other day as yesterday I had a large incontinence when I woke up plus about 500 ml when I installed my catheter. This morning I was almost afraid to look under the covers but all was under control. I also have to drink more during the day so that I don't drink too much in the evenings. That gives me a good chance.

I think you have a lesson learned here (sorry to hijack as i know this was for DJ but hes been busy) it is better yes if you can drink more during the day. I know some people dont drink after 8 pm...if they go to sleep at 10ish.

I am very careful to catheter on a regular basis, so much so that i set an alarm to remind me. Early on i would get busy and just forget, especially as i have no feeling there so the alarm just reminds me.
I have had enough of a headache with this injury so i dont need to add any risks into the equation

Woah, I hope I didn't! Sorry to hear that though sherry, I guess at least now you'll be more aware of it
I catheterise every 3-6 hours, I've not measured my output for a while so I did it yesterday and I emptied 1600ml's which is a record for me. Before my injury I would get up sort out lunch for the day etc and then go to the toilet before getting the shower, I would then get ready and sometimes I could go again before I left otherwise I'd go as soon as I got to work, I'd then go at lunch time and maybe once more. I do drink a lot of fluid, I use big mugs and whenever I have a cup of tea/coffee I'll have a glass (big) of water, herbal tea or squash..... When I had my Urodynamics appointment in November 2012 I was told I have a very large strong bladder, I was also told I drink to much fluid and I've got 2 options, 1) If I'm going to carry on drinking the amount I drink I will have to catheterise more Or 2) drink les. I do have accidents mainly when I cough, sneeze etc so I always have supplies with me when I go out. I hope this makes sense to you. Xox

@ewa....after reading this, to me i would like to offer my advice and personal opinion. I think firstly that the fact that you have accidents when you cough or sneeze is an indication that you are leaving too long an interval inbetween catheterizing.
You do drink a lot which is good especially if it is water but you will ideally need to empty your bladder more regular..i would try the 3.5 hours and see if this helps reduce the potential for the accidents you are having.
Its good that your bladder showed to be strong in 2012 but care for your bladder now will keep it healthy and strong. I wouldnt over fill or stretch it more than it should be.
1600ml's is a dangerously volume....It may be a good idea to void into a measure for a couple of days and find a healthy amount that is around 400-600 ml's and adjust your cath times so you achieve this.
