Hi Lara, Yes I know about that , but its all got complicated as I start my pension in a few months, and it will just complicate things. I will survive. Thanks for your suggestion and help.
I may have another go once the pensions up and running.
Can so relate to the sleep issues and getting utterly distracted by pain. I cannot tolerate opiates, cause horrible nausea, so am very limited in what I can take for pain. Nothing seems to really resolve nerve pain. I was glad when I read about use of R-alpha lipoic acid for diabetic neuropathy, fairly standard in Germany and some other European countries.
Butiki, I also find that changing cushion was helpful--went from memory foam to honeycomb material, and to breathable fabric rather than waterproof because entire cushion is wahsable. By "changing" do you mean washing it or changing the type of cushion?
ladylame5, you perfectly describe the "electric underwear" syndrome! That torments me at night, and I only sleep if drugged (sleep, not pain, meds). Mine has been getting worse over time, ironically as some sensation is returning to my paralyzed parts. It appears that remyelination of my spinal cord, against all odds, is occurring. This has to be good. But it has wreaked havoc with increased neuro pain and spasticity, also affecting bowel and bladder in life-changing way. Still totally incontinent, but now bowells going continually and bladder not instead of other way around. I started R-alpha lipoic acid at 100mg/day, and worked up to two doses of 300mg daily. That seems to be the magic number according to research I have read. Here is where I get mine, best value: www.vitacost.com/vitacost-r-alpha-lipoic-acid-stabilized-rala-100-mg-60-capsules-3.
randomro, I tried to sleep in the striding position, and it wound up twisting my spine. Finding the right shape and size of pillow may yet work for you. I am amazed that it seems to stay with me when I turn, which is frequently as for you. Getting a polyester fleece cover was most comfortable for me, and seemed best to move the pillow along with my rollover.
Helpful to hear how other are affected and coping. jeff1967, the hypersensitivity that often accompanies nerve pain is one of the most aggravating things to me. I cannot rest my hands in my lap, cannot place things to carry there, hurts to get dressed and to brush legs with clothes at potty time, dog's wagging tail is very painful. My hypersensitivity is related mostly to light touch, and can take form of burning, tingling, or trigger to spasticity.
No wavewolf, I have three different cushions, I just alternate them weekly, two memory foam cushions of different thickness and a honeycomb cushion. I change every Monday morning.

I may just have to try that!
It's worked very well for me wavewolf, almost cured the pain. But I still need the Lyrica unfortunately and the Panasol Osteo on the odd occasion, particularly at night when I'm in bed.

Funny how the simplest things can make a real difference. Definitely worth a try!
