This morning's news told about college students having to go to the hospital after their "fitness test", so of course I had to bring the story here. None had strokes, but there is certainly a lawsuit brewing.
"The report affirms the university’s initial beliefs that overexertion coupled with dehydration during preseason fitness tests caused the eight student-athletes to develop rhabdomyolysis. It also includes a third finding of “low-level fitness of the triceps muscle” as a contributing factor. In addition, the report details the timeline of events and the specific fitness tests that the entire 18-member volleyball team undertook.
The report specifically cites the student-athletes’ involvement in an August 18, 2016, fitness test, “which included 75 tricep pushups conducted by the women’s volleyball coaching staff” as the occurrence of the overexertion."
Interesting read Vintage. I do think in my case over exertion of the body and dehydration did contribute to thickening of my blood. Thought i was doing my body a favour by exercising. The odds of a spinal cord stroke are greater than winning the lottery guess we got the raw end of the deal...lol.

It sucks that the odds catch some of us trying to do what we feel is good for us, but like sunrise said those odds are as great as winning the lottery. Exercise is important to keep us strong and healthy.
I had my stroke 22 Oct 2015. Came on quick while eating my breakfast at work.T7 to T9. In hospital for 2 weeks then rehab 4 weeks. Lucky to walk out of rehab. Cause my blood thick so caused the blockage. On warfarin now. Walk with a limp. B&B issues. Legs numb. The night before I done a bootcamp and banged out 100 situps docs think this didn't contribute to my stroke. But I still wonder if it could have triggered it.
I too have suffered a spinal stroke. 5 weeks on I am still in hospital, I would be interested to hear from others who have been through or are going through the same as me
hi there. SO you just had one? what level? do they know the cause?
hi everybody. I 'm writing from Italy, Venice. I am here because, last June my wife while she was cleaning a window had spine stroke. SHe was taken to a first aid then to a hospital in Venice. Difficuties in walking and other essenctial funtions . I tokk her to a swiimming pool and she started to walk.
Next month I will ho to a hospital ho learn to use Navina smart This tool will help her for bladder. In June I will take her to Milan for an operation for eleminating catheters.
Hi Venice. Welcome. You are a native English speaker, now living in Italy? I love languages, so my ears perk up when I meet someone in another country. Wow! She went to a swimming pool and started walking. Good for her! What is the operation to eliminate catheters?

Hi my daughter had a spinal stroke a few weeks before her 12 th birthday on June 2, 2017. First was diagnosed as Transverse mylitis but then was evelauated 3 weeks later at John Hopkins by the TM team and was changed to spinal stroke. We just completed inpatient rehab and on our 1st week of outpatient rehab. She has an angiogram schedule for the 21st as there was no trauma or reason so far for the cause. Normal kid normal day at school. Come home went to friends only mins later had sever leg pain and collapsed. With in an 1 1/2 hrs she was paralyzed from waist down and no sensation or muscle tone. She has regained a little movement in her right toes and foot. She can also use her hip muscles to swing her right leg forward but still cannot bear any weight.

Hi. This is the exact thing that happened to me three years ago but mine was in my c2 so I am affected from the neck down.i also was diagnosed with TM and then went to John Hopkins.what dr did you meet with? Where do you live? Does she do outpatient at Kennedy kreiger? So crazy we have the same story. I am 32 and was completely paralyzed from the neck down.no movement . I did years of intense rehab and I am driving now and can use a walker short distances. If you would like any advice or tips let me know. Mine was not vascular and was caused by doing burpees in my excerice class and had a sore neck and three days later onset of stroke.
It did happen to me in March,I felt pain at home doing something and lost my footing fell on the floor. The other symptoms were there.I am paralyzed from the waist down.Tried rehab with me,it was painful walking although I did try my best.
