I've seen this before while it was a prototype but it's now ready to order! Not only is this great for quadriplegics but I think it'll be helpful for paraplegics and other disabilities as well
as the level of technology increases so the does the cost to repair, not to mention the initial cost
Very true lonewolf....it is an very unfortunate side to the development of adaptive technology. In an ideal world it should be available to all and not just those with high disposable incomes.
In the UK any equipment that is purchased in the aid of disabled living is VAT exempt. Is that the case in Canada? If any members can say if it is the same in their residing countries it would be interesting to know.
In the UK the VAT is 20% so it does offer some saving at least.
yes, in Canada adaptive devices are tax exempt .... despite this, the cost for this sort of james bond devices is high. ... what happens if the cell form is not charged? is the person locked out or I am assuming you can manually open the door with a key ..... in Canada, all equipment related to the assessable function of a specialized population is sky high .... why ... sadly, it's called capitalism

Capitalism...mmm maybe we should be talking to our governments about capping the profit on the private sector for adaptive equipment? ..after all why should big profits be made from misfortune?
lonewolf, you're right. As soon as something is classified as a medical aid, it's value goes up by 400%. I think it's like that all aroud the world though from some of the stories our members tell us! With the lockitron you can lock and unlock from both sides of the door without a phone.

did you know, when a person is diagnosed with say cancer, they are suddenly worth $300,000 to the cancer industry ..... also war is also a big time profit making endeavor, so why should adorable gimps be spared? .

Wow big money ....but i say everyone should be spared.....wether it be health needs or adaptive needs. or otherwise.... ...but if we look at human rights....everyone should be entitled to access a reasonable functionable life and should not be less enabled than others due to accident or injury (in an ideal world of course).

the whole system needs to change ..... life is not about buying something for $1 and selling it for $2 at the expense of many other variables
