I cleaned the hair build up on my caster wheels, lubricated every moving part on the chair & cleaned the entire chair from a build up of dust & dirt. I also washed my cushion cover.
Hi cbdives, my 11 year old sons job every Friday night is, check tyre pressure, remove hair from front casters,it's amazing how quickly it builds up, and give the wheelchair a general clean up, and check nuts and bolts for tightness. I'm lucky he has a part time job in a bicycle shop so he knows what he's doing. What lube do you use when you lube your chair ?
My w/c is so dirty from the snow, slush, calcium but will get dirty still till all the snow is gone. I have never done any maintenance yet in the year I've had my chair. Guess it wouldn't hurt if I took a layer of dirt off though. Thanks for the reminder.
Couldn't find any of these in the local hardware stores (looked online) so I think I'll go with this stuff, it seems like it'll do the job - 3-in-1 Professional Silicon Lubricant

That's true, it won't be long till my chair gets dirty again but oh well, I'm going to start doing maintenance more often
My wheelchair is a mess from all the snow, slush, and mud. I have cleaned it in the past but it needs to be done again. I just lack motivation. *sigh* Plus, I'm just going to go outside and get it all messy again.
DJ, I was thinking about making a video of cleaning my chair(s). Whatcha think?
Sounds good Knight, I don't know where all to put the lubrificant. (Well I know the moving parts, but how much ...)
i can can see that I will have fun removing all the hair on those front wheels. I guess a few of us will be bust this WE.
The easiest way to get the hair off your caster wheels is to remove the casters from the fork. I didn't do that in my video because I was just showing a routine cleaning. I will show my deep-cleaning later on when I have all the tools necessary.
