Not sure if this is the correct location for this post, if not I offer my apologies and humbly request that it is transferred to the appropriate group. I have been fortunate to secure a place on a city skills wheelchair training course run by Backup. They are a charitable organisation that offer a whole host of support and opportunities for those with an SCI. From finding work, skiing in Colorado and Sweden and wheelchair courses. Some of the UK based peeps may have unwittingly received a training session as part of the rehabilitation support provided by your NHS SCI centre, they offer a short half day session. Website for info can be found here. www.backuptrust.org.uk/home
I am attending the Oct course in Belfast, I consider myself very fortunate to have secured a place, they teach you crazy things like using escalators whilst in your chair!!! I hope you find the site useful and are encouraged to apply for a course or two :-)
peacewillcome, oooooweeeeee! royston, sounds like a wonderful opportunity ahead. Thanks for sharing this. I found good info on YouTube channel "SpinalCordInjuriesAu", down in your neck of the woods, Butiki?
Hi wavewolf, I live in the middle of nowhere, 3000 kms from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and 1500 kms from Adelaide. Unfortunately there is nothing near me. If I come across a problem in my wheelchair I just practice and try to work it out so I can overcome difficulties, no choice. In fact I have been know to teach other wheelies my self tought skills.
Butiki, it's good you are resourceful! Wheeling in the bush, you have to be... Still, I found there are good things to be learned from YT videos. And even from our own Knight, who has posted videos on this site!
Agree--blackpearlv6's channel is great! Then I remind myself I am his mother's age and have RA, so not able to muscle it all!!!! But his ideas are great, and he is very clear in explanations.

Hi wavewolf, I have watched some of his videos and they are very informative and inspiring. Do you have a top 5 of others who have been helpful?

Here are some YT channels that I have learned from: SpinalCordInjuriesAu Paralyzed Living (renamed blackpearlv6) WheelzOfFortune Jerry Diaz A paraplegic's life
You can probably tell that I miss my active lifestyle pre-paralysis!

Hopefully there will be more active videos soon since summer is in full swing now ("summer in full swing" = "finally the temperature is above freezing!")
