I was initially going to put this in off topic but i think it can be associated with SCI. I find this kind of music therapy interesting and it does seem to offer real benefits.
Neuroscientists have been looking into wether music can assist healing and to be honest it makes good sense to me. I listen to music to raise my mood and the feelgood factor can only have a positive effect on the body and its function.
Research has already been looking at the effects of music on the brain in certain areas as behavior and memory. In fact there has been a lot of study carried out in this area.
Interestingly there s growing scientific evidence to prove that music also has curative powers.
Maybe we should be looking at spinal and rehab units playing music during therapy and in beds....i took my laptop and listened to music often when i was in rehab and i always wanted to play it for other patients...It certainly lifted spirits.
This extract from the article reminds me of the scene from Titanic where the orchestra continued playing to help calm passengers on the ill fated ship as it was sinking....
