Knight, I'm so sorry to hear you can't catch a break. I told my doctor the pain reminds me of labor pain right before delivery. Two things that have helped me are massage therapy and 25mg of pure CBD oil. I capsulate my CBD into 5mg doses and take it every 4 hours. I'm still taking the insane amount of narcotics that prescribed in the hospital. Before weaning me off those he wants to try Lyrica and see if it performs better than Gabapentin.

Massage therapy, especially myofascial release, helped me considerably with pain from spasms. I am going to look into CBD oil. From what I have heard, the inhaled CBD is also very effective, and maybe a little faster since it doesn't have to go through GI tract. I have used both Lyrica and Gabapentin for neuropathic pain--both work, but I think Lyrica is superior. Lyrica costs a lot more, and seems to promote weight gain for many people. If you know that, you can be proactive and hopefully control it.

The CBD product I use is called Cheeba Chews. Their website explains everything and I like their box measure so I can stretch the bar out to cut up doses. It gets excellent reviews about dose stability. I had to vape like a feen to get the same result I get from this edible. I agree vaping between can help. It's hard to explain to people how unpredictable spasticity can be. I finally found a high CBD plant I can use without psychoactive effects. Let me know how it goes for you.

Thank you for this info! I'm wondering if this is legal in my state (PA). My lung function is down to 40%, so I probably would do better with edible than vaporized. I don't really want the psychoactive effects, so this is really good info.

Lin, my hospital docs put me on Clonazapam and Xanax. I think Xanax and Valium serve the same result, but Xanax is so addictive I only use it if my CBD meds can't cut it. At first I thought spasticity meant everything in my body but that guess is wrong. Right now my body is calm but my bladder is not letting my liquids through. I'm going to blast it with my massager and see if that can calm it down.

LOL fishkybizniz ..blasting your bladder with your massager! lol
I will be weaning myself off the Valium and switching over to Xanaflex (Tizanidine) for my spasms and we are trying to find a mood stabilizer that will work on my Bipolar II disorder. I've tried Xanaflex before, but it was for the tremors Keppra gave me, so I guess we'll see how the spasms do on that.

I have a powerful hand held massager that helps me get all the knots out. I also use heat therapy (electric blanket) as a follow up to the massager. I haven't tried the jacuzzi yet because I'm too weak. The CBD oil is a new therapy and it's working great. It's my understanding the cause of the spasms is the nerves being resistant to exercise. So I've learned I have to hold myself back on my exercising in order to stay consistent and works into getting stronger. Right now my doctor is weaning down the Gabapentin to add Lyrica to see if it's a better fit. We haven't started weaning me off the narcotics. I have already ditched the Dilaudid and Xanax, but still take a long acting Morphine and Norco. Since I added the CBD oil and started pacing the excerise back into smaller goals I'm doing a lot better with it than before. I am blessed to live in a state that allows CBD medication. CBD is getting a lot of positive feedback with the FDA so I'm praying it will soon become another standard choice everyone with a spinal injury can try.

And more to come! When I left Kaiser (spring of this year) Kaiser in my area don't have the staff for out patient cord recovery. After months of asking for my medical records they failed to provide pertinent information on my case. SO... I just saw a Nurologist who can help me understand exactly what I'm dealing with. He will study my images and also do some testing to help me understand what I'm dealing with. For my case, the doctor explained that I have 2 different types of nerve damage to examine and the current condition of my cord. God has blessed me with the most wonderful doctors. My job is to just keep swimming.
