What fun this was to discover Inspired celebrates along side our Country's birthday every year. I'm new to this cord injury scruff. I just got a journal to track the journey. Next year I'll be able to list what changes I've made in being my new me.
Happy First Birthday Inspired!!! I am so glad I found you, you have provided me with much needed good information & support! My 1st spinal surgery, in my lumbar region, was in 1986, after 6 years of sporadic severe back pain. My 14th, my first thoracic surgery, just last May, left me a paraplegic, I was just told I need to have cervical surgery soon, as soon as I'm cleared by an endocrinologist that my bones are stable enough. Otherwise it's medication for a month prior to surgery. Sooo....this will be my 15th spinal surgery.....that will make a grand total of 4 cervical, 1 thoracic, & 10 lumbar!!! I've never heard of anyone else having that many major spine surgeries. I was never scared or worried before; but I now find myself wondering if I'm going to wake up a quad on a vent. I really like my new neurosurgeon, though......that helps.......except I also felt the same about the last one, who, by the way, also operated on the same level of my cervical spine 5 weeks before he did the thoracic surgery that left me paralyzed. Sooo....now I'm also feeling paralyzed by fear. But I have no choice, my spinal cord is being compressed & I'm losing arm & hand feeling & function, as well as pain & constant headaches. Thanks for always being there for me, and for listening. PRICELESS!!!
anita...my heart goes out to you, you have been fair challenged more than most people...We will all be thinking of you when you go for your next surgery and here to wish you a speedy recovery! Stay strong
fishkybizniz, we will look forward to reading about all the improvements you make too!
