At this time dogs are the only animals recognized by the ADA for Service Animal work. That is because dogs are known to be highly trainable and highly social toward humans. It started with Seeing Eye Dogs and grew to include dogs for multiple medical needs, so I guess is is possible to see the ADA recognize other animals in the future.

If I ever get to live in a house, I want to get a service dog to help me with laundry and when I go out.
