I've been researching herbal medicine for years, and someday I hope to go to school for it and get my certificate in Homeopathy. Sadly, I haven't found anything to relieve my nerve pain yet. I occasionally use peppermint/spearmint oil on my right knee. (I have a torn ligament & shredded meniscus and my knee dislocates whenever I stand and put weight through it.) I use tea tree oil on the eczema in my ears. Capsaicin, which is found in hot peppers like chiles, jalapenos, etc., desensitizes nerves and is sometimes helpful for nerve pain, from my experience.
Thanks for the info Knight! I think natural medicine is best kind of medicine out there and they should really focus on finding natural sources for medications. I like hot peppers/jalapeño peppers so I'll give that a try as well

It gives me an excuse to eat spicy food too love spicy food, but my bowels aren't too fondof it, although peppers can help relieve constipation also because our bodies can't break them down completely.
I bought this Hot Hemp muscle rub made by The Merry Hempsters years ago, and couldn't stand how tingly it made my skin feel, but now, years later, I still have it, and yesterday, I decided to give it a try when my friend offered a back rub to try and relax my lower back muscles. Massage had hardly helped before, but when the muscle rub was applied and then massaged into my skin, I felt sweet, wonderful relief. I have applied some tonight and rubbed it in just a little, and it has relieved my pain by two marks: 6/10 to a 4/10. I am amazed. The tingly sensation I hated prior to my SCI, I now love. It feels cool and warm at the same time thanks to eucalyptus, peppermint, menthol, and clove. Even where I am numb in my skin, I feel my muscles relaxing. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it does. I bought it from a health food store in my hometown, and plan to see if the health food store here carries it. The Merry Hempsters also make a cooling muscle rub and chapstick.

I use medical marijuana and convinced the marijuana and good diet are the reason I'm making remarkable progress in getting better. 99% of the marijuana I've used is pure CBD. Because CBD has no psychoactive effects, I'm wondering that makes it 'hemp' and can be consumed legally without a States sanction? The version to buy would have to be oil or edible made with the oil. I highly recommend Cheeba Chews because you can cut it up into measurable doses.
My State allows medical marijuana, allowing me to buy an extremely potent THC edible. The CBD buds I've vaped would not qualify as hemp. The CBD has to be 100% isolated. CBD oil is supposed to be the pure form isolating THC out. The afformentioned Cheeba Chews. are a small taffy bar. The purple box I buy is 50mg of CBD oil. The box shows 5 scores as markers of each 10mg. dose. I used to take 5mg. 5 times a day because my pain builds in my day. Now I take a larger dose (7.5mg) once a day. The Cheeba Chew brand has a black label box thats pure THC with a stern warning how potent it is on the label. I've found if I take a teeny tiny dose with the CBD it's a win on pain management and the only medication I know that stakes a claim on how it helps the body heal itself.
As stated, I've made remarkable progress. I've been sharing with a friend who has serious case of rheumatoid arthritis and Fibromyalgia. Her pain goes away as well. There's lots of research out there about CBD and THC. If you visit YouTube, a beautiful story about the Stanley Brothers growing plants for a little girl with an agreesive seizure condition. The CBD has it under control. No pun intended, I highly recommend trying it. Because there are too many people without medical problems buying product, I have not told family and friends. You all know how difficult it is to explain a cord injury. Anyways, I'm not going to let naysayers steal my joy away.
The whole issue with legalizing marijuana is politics and money, the pharmaceutical industry is big business. The more injuries, the longer people are living, the more money is made from this multi profit industry.
It isnt even that the benefits need to be proven, its simply money. Legalizing the use for medical purposes is going to lose these guys money. If they had any sense, they would start producing the oil and also other forms.
It should be available in the UK, well of course its available but the ideal would be to have a reliable and controlled source. Maybe one day they will get this one sorted.

Exactly this! I'd say marijuana would definitely be beneficial to a lot of people but no, the government can't have people getting better.

Still a lot of stigma surrounding the weed. I've heard some insurance companies do blood tests. If they find things that are not prescribed, they can stop your meds. "They" say it either changes the med effectiveness or that if the pot works you don't need meds. These are just stories I've heard, no idea if they are true. Seemed like they might be. I'd be pooched without Lyrica, so I worry about this.

kilg0retr0ut, in my State doctors are not allowed to order that kind of testing without their patients permission. The federal government is already trying to figure out a way to bank all that money being made in Colorado. If our Federal government in any way approves the $$$ being made as taxable, the same as making it legal. They're going to cave. The $$$ made in Colorado is in the billions. The taxable revenue from Colorado would help fix the debt we're in. My opinion? The Feds are already putting Federal guide lines together so they can get in on the action.
I had my first visit with a "reflexologist" yesterday. She stressed mind and body. I had a great full body massage, it was so relaxing! She said I'm not as bad as I think I am and focus on that.
No earth shattering improvements...but it was so very relaxing
