Not any of the harder drugs Knight. I'm still hanging with about half my meds. Takes the edge off but Im not functioning that we'll. I go to bed at 6pm, two hours before my daughters bedtime. I just lay there like a turd.
That sucks. I'm sorry Not even morphine or methadone work? I'm glad the Tramadol still helps a bit. When I was on it 2 months prior to my accident (I fell down stairs & bruised my tailbone and a couple vertebrae.) I mixed it with Ibuprofen under doctor's advice and it boosted it. Maybe try that if you have a bad pain day and the Tramadol just isn't cutting it?

Yes kilg0retr0ut, I'm usually in bed by 7.00 - 7.30pm, so I know where your coming from mate.
My back & hardware pain has spiked the past 3 days, and I'm wondering why. The weather is warming up, it's not raining much, I'm staying active but not too active... I don't understand this pain flare. I haven't fallen, no UTI, no problems. I'm calling my doctor in the morning, but a year after surgery and it's uncontrollable pain again.
I wonder... Could it be psychological since I'm remembering my surgery & recovery?
Hey Knight. I was an advanced care paramedic so we had standing orders to administer IV morphine and other narcotics at our discretion. No medical professional is able to self administer or administer controled substances to a diirect family member. The reason is so that someone can monitor the patient and administer narcan or fuids in case of an overdose. I have tried to get IV morphine so my wife who is also a paramedic could help when I am really in severe pain. I find straight scotch works the fastest. Hope you are feeling better.

The paramedics who took me to the ER 3 years ago refused to give me even Tylenol in the ambulance. Rode over a mile with a shattered vertebra & crushed spinal cord with a driver who thought he was in a demolition derby.
I'm sorry that happened to you. We had standing orders to administer medications and had parameters to follow. For example head trauma was a contrindication for morphine administration. These standing orders varied from province to province, so I have no idea about your state laws. I cringed everytime I was in the back of the ambulance with an elderly patient with a hip fracture and we went over a bump, and that was after administering morphine. When I was flown back from Cuba I had been on a spinal board for 72'hours and was in severe pain. I knew the medics transporting me from the plane to the trauma hospital. I asked for morphine but they could not give it under there standing orders. I'm not making excuses for the medics in your situation and there are people in every profession who shoud not be doing that job. I don't like it when people have bad experiences with medics who should have been helping them. I hope I never treated someone like that.

Funny how every state is different with their laws. I cannot imagine what that was like Knight, I went through the bucket seats of a Dodge Daytona (the car not the race) and was trapped in my car overnight so I can relate to your experience. My damage was already done and swelling had taken its toll by the time I was found. I just remember wanting a drink of water and trying to crawl. Every time I would try to move, excruciating pain shot through my lower half. I learned to relax really quick during those 5 hours of waiting. I had a visible head injury Kevin so I understand the hesitance to not administer pain drugs. They gave me meds at the first hospital after they evaluated me then shipped me out to the trauma hospital. I missed my ride in the helicopter because it was storming and they didn't have the flight technology that they have today.
I hope you found relief. I am suffering a bit too these days but hopefully on my way to finding some relief and a pain management doctor I can trust.
Are you hoping to go to nursing school? I've known several paraplegic doctors and a couple of nurses that rode mobility scooters due to MS, so anything is possible for you.
