Well after nearly a month on Lyrica im happy, the tingling has all but gone from my legs and the funny feeling in my bum has really settled, just the tight feeling in my feet is still there. But overall I'm happy on the reasonably low dose so far.
Two silly questions, firstly can you just stop taking Lyrica? and secondly is Lyrica a narcotic?
Not silly! Find answers here: www.drugs.com/lyrica.html. Not a narcotic. Seems as if you have found beneficial dosage. With this class of drugs, unlike narcotics, increase in dose is not required to maintain benefit, but taking it regularly is important. Abruptly discontinuing any medication taken for pain is ill advised--better to wean off slowly and let body adjust, less chance of adverse reactions. Glad you have good result. What do you take for tattoo pain?!
Stumbled across this new article on Lyrica today, check it out.
Researchers analyzed the data from five randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials of Lyrica (pregabalin, Pfizer) in 498 patients with fibromyalgia (FM), 514 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) or postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) and 356 patients with spinal cord injuries (SCI). All patients had an average pain score of four or higher on an 11-point scale at baseline.
The trials included doses of pregabalin ranging from 150 mg/day to 600 mg/day and were between 8 weeks and 16 weeks in duration. Responders to treatment were classified as having a 30% or greater or 50% or greater reduction in mean pain scores compared with baseline.
'I was just put on Lyrica, and was taking 25mg twice a day...I found it really helped me, I was getting a lot of pain especially at night........I would get like a buzzing sensation down my right leg and foot like bee's or as I like to explain it, as a mobile phone in silence mode in my foot..it was driving me nut's..the only way I would get any relief was to turn over on to my back n when it started up again turn onto my side...that's ok if you can turn yourself...anyway the lyrica was great I even have more movement but I had brain fog...so I tried one at night only..I found it works great, I sleep better n I don't need to turn over at night and I don't have brain fog during the day..n no mobile buzz and less pain.

Glad you got some relief. I didn't respond well the few times I tried it so it is definitely a trial and error type drug.
Hello, I was given Lyrica for the nerve pain in my arms while still in the rehab hospital. I found it did nothing for me. Then it was switched to Cymbalta and that seemed to help (or I wanted something to help).

hey guys, just an update..Lyrica is still working great for me but I did find it made me sleepy during the day so now I only take the 25mg at night...I wish there was a 30mg I could just use a tad more lol
What's the difference in drugs? I am on 1200mg Gabapentin 3X daily for nerve pain. I hate pills, AND I still have nerve pain! My nerve pain is sporadic. I would like to wean myself off the pills, esp if they are not helping. Or are they? I have no idea! I will go days without pain, then BAM! Debilitating. I keep a pain journal and have not found any pattern yet. Quite irksome to be polite.... My accident was July, 2014. So, what can I be doing different and what questions should I be asking my doctor?
Hi all, after trying Lyrica about twelve months ago it made me very sleepy. But recently I have started again, this time no sleepiness. Last time I was on it for about a week and stopped, is was only taking 50 mg a day, now I'm taking 150 mg a day and it has really taken the edge off the tingling in my legs and feet and the funny feeling in my bum has reduced. The Doctor told me I can increase it if I feel the need. I hate taking drugs but if it's going to improve the quality of my life I guess it's worth it. Has anyone have experience with Lyrica ?
Bukti I take Lyrica as well. 75 mg three times a day. I was not getting up out of bed after my injury because the nerve pain was intolerable. It made me sleepy at first also and i had some nausea and vomiting. So from my experience, it takes getting used to. I'm not one to take anything but could not do without it now. My doctor mentioned a spinal cord stimulator at my last visit. Does anyone have experience with this?
