Don't worry Lαrα, it wont be long until you have them again and mangoes are tasty aren't they! It's surprising that something that's good for you actually tastes good
Just wanted to add to this thread ...To assist my bowels to do their job i take movacol each day..one sachet in the morning and two in the evening plus senna in the evening (approx 30ml).
To be honest i would still struggle a little, even with the meds, if i didnt eat healthily and exercise. I now make sure that my diet includes fresh fruit and vegetables daily and regular drinks of water. I eat at regular intervals and have fruit inbetween.
Exercise helps me too..so i try to maintain a regular exercise regime. I do give myself one day off a week and on that day i give the gym a miss and eat chocolate if i want..i love Saturdays!
Im fortunate that my bowels pretty much behave themselves now as i have found what works for me and accidents dont occur for me anymore.
It appreciate the difficulties that others experience who need to get their bowels routines efficient but then also balance this with not having accidents.
It would be good if some members can give us their thoughts and experience on how they manage this
My poo problem is the complete opposite, I actually take stuff to harden it up, otherwise it's like water. After over twelve months of trying different things, movicol, coloxyl with senna, senna, magnesia powder it's been a poo nightmare. The peristeen has been going well but I still need to keep my poo firm otherwise I will have the odd accident.
Unfortunaty DJ, I just did as I was told , I did have a tendency to get blocked up early on in my recovery, but things changed and no Lαrα I don't take anything that even looks like a laxative now, in fact I don't want to be in the same room as a laxative.
Yes DJ I was, but have not looked at a laxative since the day I started the peristeen. I now take a granular thing called normafibe and a larpirimide called gastro stop, it's a anti diarrhea medication and I just adjust the amount I take on a daily basis. I also take a Herbal gut thing for IBS, only just started that a few days ago so I can't say yet wether or not it is doing any good.

Ah ok I see! How much is the new meds helping you?
I face constipation issues since my injury. I have found that I can manage it somewhat, but the keyword is 'manage'. I have to regularly drink prune juice, eat dried pears, drink Kifer yogurt, and take senna at bed. Otherwise it stops coming out. The Kifer is delicious and has 12 active cultures. The prune juice is tolerable, the pears are great. It took me a while to figure out that I could not be random about it. Every day I have to consider it. Not a biggie in the scheme of things, I consider myself lucky in that regard. Many here helped with their inputs and experiences. I thank you all for that. This is a great sharing place that I have benefited a lot from.

Great suggestions dodahman! Glad you've found something to help manage. Everyone sharing their own experience is definitely what makes this a great resourceful place!
