pindy686, very important--you have been through a great change in your life, too! And caregiving is hard in a different way than for SCI. You're both in this for the long haul...
Thanks everyone for the encouragement. Definitely in situations like these, we all need love and support. Change is demanded of us, too. If we don't change and adapt, we're doomed. That's been my experience. Dealing with grief, despair, anger, bitterness, etc, it forced me to make a choice of how I was going to live. Is there a way to set up my forum account so that I get an email when ever a new reply or comment is posted? Thanks!

There sure is! First go to your profile then click on "edit profile". Next click on the "notification" tab and in there you can choose what you'd like to get in your email.
OK, thanks, DJ. I think I found the right spot. Had a whole list of choices for various notifications. I didn't see one that specifically said, "Get an email when someone replies" but I did enable a number of them that looked close, "daily notifications", "instant" notifications...etc. We'll see what happens. Thanks again.
Nerve pain? Here's another issue that comes up for my wife. Her injury is "incomplete". Thoracic T5 to T11. She has intense "parasthesias", pain from damaged nerves. She describes it as a burning pain, like a bad sunburn that never goes away. There is also "tingling" and sometimes "pins and needles" at the same time. Nasty. Gabapentin she says didn't work so she dropped it. Baclofen helps a bit for "tightness" and the mild spasticity she has sometimes. "Do you want to get up?" "No, I feel bad. Miserable." "Burning?" "Yes.". She takes a 15 mg extended release morphine every morning. That helps more than anything. Sounds bad but she almost never complains. Sometimes I wish she would complain more so I'd know what was going on. Anyone have any tips on dealing with nerve pain?? Thanks in advance.

No problem! If you go back to that menu you'll see one of the choices that says "Participated", that's the one you're going to want to set to send to your email.
OK, DJ, I found the "participated" button in the upper right hand corner. It gave me two buttons, one that says, "select" and the other "actions". Under "select" I chose "all"...under "actions" I'm not sure what to choose if anything. I didn't see anything about email directly...? Thanks.
Thank you Lara. It does seem like overall we are on "the right track". Long time comin'. It's been five years since her cancer diagnosis and surgical injury. This last year we only had one medical crisis! (Septicemia / kidney infection!)

Wow, 5 years, you have both come a long way and to only have one incident is pretty good going. You are doing something very right!
Only one crisis incident in the last year, anyway, is a big improvement. It seemed to be one catastrophe after the other for a number of years. Things are better now, we are very different people as well. Change and grow or... I can see there are many profound life stories here and look forward to learning more. Thanks to all.

Sorry pindy686 I didn't mean that participated button. First go to your profile then click on "edit profile". Next click on the "notification" tab and in there look for "Participated" and turn on email notifications for it.

That's no fun, sorry to hear that! Have you read our thread on Nerve pain? There's lots of great info there and hopefully something that'll help - Nerve Pain Information & Management
OK, thanks. I took a look on the nerve pain link, lots of good info. Nothing better than hearing from others with a similar issue and hearing what worked and what didn't.
