Hey wavewolf. Would you consider an indwelling foley for the day to allow you to participate in an activity. I put one in for marathons. Not ideal but it works. For bowels I do a cleanse the week before and stop two days prior. Better than not participating. I have peeded myself. Embarrassing but worth it to get out there.

kevin, those are great ideas! I agree, that getting out there and living life is what is important. Sometimes I have to remind myself that no one actually ever died of embarrassment!!!! My incontinence is complicated by the fact that my SCI was disease caused, and it is a chronic and progressive disease. Treatment is really only management of symptoms, no cure, and the meds are almost as dangerous as the disease. Because of extreme immune suppression, I cannot use either Foley or SPC or even ISC because of increased risk of infection. My medications will have to be stopped if I must catheterize to avoid renal reflux--testing upcoming to determine if I truly have renal reflux as it appeared in cystoscopy. If I stop meds, I am at risk of further paralysis if disease becomes more active. Add to that issue my severe allergies to many antibiotics, and a serious UTI could be easily be the end of me. Life is not fair. I hope I don't have to choose between disease-modifying meds and renal health.
