guy1577, welcome aboard...the best way forward for you now,is to take one step at a time.Focus on your recovery and gaining strength, the pain needs to be managed so be sure to discuss this with your specialist.
Falls are dangerous so, discuss this one with your physio and specialist also. Look at using crutches for now until you are stronger. The numbness may go but be prepared that it may not also..same for the nerve pain.
Keep a journal of progress and if you have down days, read through because you will make improvements but you may not notice them every day.
Thanks for sharing your story. That must have been a really scary experience! I'm glad you were diagnosed and treated quick though because that seems to be the biggest issue people with CES had.
DJ, I am only two weeks and 3 days from having my surgery. My left leg, foot, and toes are numb and I can tell that my left leg is getting weaker. I have the new pain that is in both of my upper thighs and hip area and radiates throughout both legs that is worse than any pain that I felt prior to surgery. I'm getting a little stir crazy, but I know that I am not close to going back to work yet. I have an office job that requires me to drive and visit families outside of the office also. I can't sit for more than 10 minutes right now without having to change positions. I am having trouble sleeping also because I just cant get comfortable along with the pain.
I'm really sorry to hear that guy1577, doesn't sound fun at all. It's getting worst you say? I think you're suppose to stabilize/get better after surgery, could be a bit of down time before you make improvements though. When are you back for a follow up with your neurosurgeon?
DJ, I am scheduled to go back to the surgeon on Thursday, 08/06. We are supposed to talk about driving and returning to work. I doubt either will happen Thursday.

Hopefully he can give you an idea of when you'll start recovering and when you'll be ready to go back. Let us know what happens, good luck!

I see. The odds of that happening must be like 1/trillion. I guess there are many ways to end up here. I hope we (this forum/site) can help in some way. Mark
