I know I am lucky to be able to do the things I do. Braces and crutches hinder me but I still try to make life interesting. Here are a few pictures in my boat The BensanII.
I think this site will be able to help people with CES like no other. Lara having with CES has been great for this site, not good for her, but you know what I mean. People with CES have been looking for a place just like this. I hope our numbers grow and people with fresh injury's have a place to get real info. I see this as the #1 site for CES info. My thanks go out to DJ and Lara for all they have done and are doing.
I hope you mean our number of members grow LOL
sorry...I can't help myself...
You're right: this is the best place for info and especially support. Thank you all for making it so.
I have it to where my toes curl up and it's so painful I cry. When I stand on my feet my left foot is numb and painful plus it turns black. My doctor that did my back surgery said my foot wasn't from that I guess he meant Cauda Equnia syndrome and it swells up a lot. I can't walk right. They have me on no pain killers just gabapentin that really doesn't help. Thinking about getting the neuro stimulator if our insurance covers it.

Welcome kellyd, well one thing that I have learnt is that in regards to CES, the patient knows best. Cauda Equina Syndrome affects the nerves that are responsible for the nerves in your feet and as they are the furthest away from the spinal cord, resulting feet issues are very likely.
There is also the potential for associated feet issues, such as spasticity, which it sounds like you are experiencing in your toes. The feet swelling, could be associated but it always could be something else, such as circulatory issues ( blood clot ) so get that checked out. Anything that does not appear to be normal, be sure that you find out what is causing it.

If you can arrange insurance you might get relief from botox injections to the toes. Also demand that you be allowed to test baclofen. Your doctor's refusal to admit your symptoms are part of CE hampers your ability to get effective treatment so I would shop for a better doctor if at all possible.
Is that there anything that can help for the pain in your foot. Yeah I'm gonna go get it rechecked. I went to a foot doctor they told me nothing was wrong. I tried to tell them about the Cauda Equnia.

I have the same curling toe's kellyd, my doctor also said it was't caused by the surgery. He said they curled because my toes claw for balance, thing is they were curled almost immediately after surgery, hmmm. What I've been told is they can cut the tendons in your toes so they flatten out. I was told it might effect my balance, so I've kept the curls. You needn't visit a foot doctor, they'll have no clue what your talking about. You might have better luck with a physiatrist, (may be a bad spelling) but at least someone with a background in spinal cord injuries.
Not rare enough. I think that it is also referred to as diabetic nerve pain. And I am sure it is an unfortunate consequence of other illnesses as well.

Kellyd (if you are still visiting without logging in), did you ever get help with the problem of your toes turning black?
