Well I'm finally going to be staring university this September! I'm going to be studying software engineering since programming is one of my strengths. It also works out for me with my disability and limited hand function because all I'll ever need for software engineering is a computer and I can use one quite well even with my physical limitations. I think I'll be most likely living on residence at the university in an accessible room but I'm going to go check out the room first to make sure it'll fulfill my needs. I'm still not sure if I'll take a full course load or a slightly reduced one but I'm thinking the latter. Once I get my undergrad I do want to get a masters degree so I'm looking at about 6-8 more years of school. Oh well, still young so it should be alright
Yesterday was my first official day of university after the two orientation days before and I must say, I'm loving it! I've met lots of great people and made a few good new friends. All my professors seem really nice and I'm just loving the whole university vibe! With post secondary education you're surrounded by people who want to be there to learn whereas in high school it's mandatory for people to attend. Because of this, the learning environment is so much better in post secondary education. I know it's only the beginning and it'll start to get harder but I'm sure I'm going to love every second of it!
You've done your midterm exams, DJ? It's great that you are doing University. And Sam...I only got my BA about four years ago, and I was well over 40. I agree that it would have been nice to do it when I was young. It certainly could have improved my earning power if I'd done it sooner. But it felt good to do it later, too. I learned to use all the same software that all of you use. In Masters, I wrote a research paper. So, all that studying and learning in college put me in a position to be able now to navigate the web and relate to modern advances. I can do this better than many others who are of my same age, but who did college decades ago. So "learning" is always good.
tj, delboy, vintage, thanks! Yes I completed my last exam on the 12th so I've been busy catching up on things I had to put aside when I was busy during school. I think I can finally rest now. Had a great semester! I'm off till January 9th so still got a couple more weeks of break left.
So glad to hear DJ. I know you have done your best, be proud , have some much deserved chill time , get refreshed for next semester. Enjoy your holiday.
