I am very sorry to hear about your sons fall and his injury. I can imagine it must be a very tough time for all of you. Do you know what his injury level is? Is he unable to talk because he has breathing tubes going down his throat (intubated)?
I became a quadriplegic as a result of a car accident and when I was two weeks into my injury I was in the ICU and was intubated and had a feeding tube and a whole bunch of other stuff. Most of it was a blur for me but it was scary nonetheless. I can't imagine what my parents went through but I have a good idea and I know that you feel the same way. You just gotta hang in there, your son will be alright. Make sure they keep an eye on his skin (back, bottom) to make sure he doesn't get any skin breakdowns/pressure sore but other than that the hospital will know what to do.
Hello kathyb, you certainly came to the right place. DJ,'s comment is very appropriate and I do not think I have anything more to add at this time. But please do come online whenever you need someone to talk to! I wish you all the best in this difficult time.
