Tried my foam covered board for the first time last night. Worked perfectly-legs stayed straight all night and no marks on my knees etc.
I used a 4ft by 2ft by 15mm MDF board and a 15mm medium foam. I also but a pillow on both bed rails between the board and the bed rails to deaden any noise from vibration.

Awesome! I'm glad it worked out! I might have to put some foam under my table and start doing that from now on.
ok, having issues with left knee not staying straight and am unable to straighten at night in bed as of late, really frustrating. start out fine but as i fall asleep leg will start to spasm and start bending which is really uncomfortable and cant fix while laying down so have to get up. ive been using a recumbant bike to exersize recently, could that be the reason? feels tired at times my left knee from the workout. only do 3 mins each time 3x/week. help 2 hrs of sleep killing me.

i do mine like this. Put a pillow on my knee, use a bedsheet and tie it over across your knees. It might take a bit of trial and error at which exact place on your knee to tie around on, but you will find the sweet spot. I suggest slightly above your knee. On this picture I have two pillows. One on my knee, another on under my Achilles heel to prevent sores there.
You can try a simple knee brace that keeps your knees from bending. May be more comfortable than pillows a d slings. I sleep on my side and my legs often curl under so I just turn to my back for a bit.
I recently bought an adjustable bed base so being able to elevate my feet helps too.
