I've been looking at padded shorts that I could basically wear under my clothes when I workout at the gym. The benches at the gym have padding but a hard padding, if that makes since. I've found several different kinds such as one by Glidewear. Others are for impact sports that may be just as good. I don't know but you may. If you have any experience let me know. Thanks.
Good idea to wear the padded shorts. Plus it makes your rear look good.
I got the idea when I rode with other hand cyclists as they wore them for the extra padding given the long rides. If you can afford them, I would spend a little extra for the ones that have gel padding. You have to hand wash them but they are better at keeping you protected. But still take time afterwards to check yourself over for any red areas because your body has to get used to them.
Can either of you give me a link to what your talking about? It sounds like something that might help me.
www.glidewear.com is one. I've mostly just done searches online. Cyclists use them but from what I can tell they don't pad the butt area as much as other areas.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend and how you will be using them. The amount of padding can deter or enhance your workout experience. The question you first need to answer is: What are you trying to protect; tailbone, buttocks or hips? For Rodney's purpose, I suggested gel because he just needs protection from the benches in a workout routine. However, Rodney Steele will still need to be careful because he already has a healing sore on his bum.
It is really a trial and error kind of approach to find a comfortable fit . I used to go buy several shorts and take them home and see what fit best. I would then return the ones I didn't like. You can now do the same from your home with Amazon and other online vendors.

I haven't used a transfer board in over a year, though the tape would probably be a nice thing to have.
I found another brand that may have a larger gel area? www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VSYV2TK Sponeed Men's Cycling Shorts Tights Pants Bicycle 4D Gel Padded Bike Shorts
What I've wanted to do is protect my skin where my diaper doesn't cover me. I have the power in my arms to scoot around, but scooting tears up my skin.
