Hello, I've been dealing with a serious issue over the past 2 months and I didn't get any serious diagnosis or treatment so far. I've been to a lot of doctors. The diagnosis was hypnic jerks also known as myoclonic jerks. But how did this occur? It all started in a very intense period of my life. I was training back then for participating in the triathlon and marathon. A few days before the competitions hemorrhoids appeared and anal fissure. Blood was coming out for around 10 days along with my stool. It took me a month to visit a doctor because I was so embarrassed. But once I've visit the doctor, that very same day something worse has happen. I cant sleep ever since. Literally. Every time I'm about to sleep my legs, or sometimes arms or shoulders jerks and dont let me go to the dreamland. Sometimes I feel like a shock in my brain and right after my anal sphincter contracts. So this is a weird case of hypnic jerks because I havent found anyone dealing with this alongside to rectal contractions. The only way i can get some sleep is by using Zolaram 0.5mg .But I dont want to be using it for the rest of my life because of its side effects. Even when i get it, I can sleep for only six hours. The symptoms then reappear and wake me up.
During this hard period, other symptoms appeared as well. Like weak erection and ejaculation likewise weak urine stream.
One doctor thought this must be all in my mind 'case there is no way anything could have happen to cause all these symptoms because they dont relate. But I'm not crazy. It's happening. I feel that there is a problem in my pelvic floor.
I dont know if this has anything to do with spinal cord injury, but I'd like to get some opinions from here as well.
Thanks in advance, wish you get through what you're facing fast.

Thats the thing about a SCI alex31, nothing about it is fast, and you never really get through it, but thanks. Have you checked out sleeping leg syndrome? I can't help you myself, maybe our members has heard of such a condition. One of our members swears on zapping the area with electricity.
Good Luck, I hope you can find a reason behind your issues.
Have you had an MRI. Once the weak erection got thrown into the bag of symptoms I suspect it would be good to rule out spinal cord damage or spinal damage. Doctors love to announce 'it's in your head' when they cannot figure something out. its so insulting. Have you tried baclofen?
Sorry to hear about what you're going through. To me personally it doesn't sound like its spinal cord injury related however just over use of the body. You've pushed yourself way too hard during training and now your body is fighting back. Or so I think. As tetra has mentioned, you can try and do an MRI just to make sure the spinal cord is fine.
Hi Alex31. Parasites can do that. Some herbs kill parasites. Wormwood, Cloves, and Green Black Walnut Hull Tincture. Cayenne Pepper stops bleeding. All of this goes in through your mouth, in capsules. Except, the Green Black Walnut Hull Tincture is taken as drops in a cup of water. Zappers come with two copper hand-holds. You don't need to put them anywhere near your anus to kill the parasites. Lol.

No I didn't have an MRI yet. This is what I was planning to do if this continue. But when I told this to the doctor he told me it might not show anything. Do you think it can really show if there is a nerve damage somewhere? I didn't have any accident recently to cause this. But on the other hand, damage can happen if someone is sitting all day long. Which I don't. I've spend so much money so far for visits to doctors, prescribed drugs and vitamins. But I will spend everything I have to get through this. I didn't try baclofen but I will definitely try it. Thanks for your answer

Hello, and thanks for your answer. What does SCI means? I think you are referring to Restless legs syndrome but no this is not what I have. At least this is what I was told because I thought so too. It does feels like electricity that goes straight into my leg or arms.

To be honest I don't think that it's a spinal cord injury either. But if this is not the case.. then what is it? MRI is expensive. And if I'll have to do it i will. How can MRI indicate the underlying causes? Will it show if there was any spinal cord problem and then suspect potential nerve damage? Or it can show directly a nerve damage? But I don't feel pain anywhere.

I never thought of that. Thanks for the information. I will take a look on this tip as well.

An MRI could should if there's anything going on with the spinal cord. Perhaps if it's pinched, etc. Do you know if there are any better doctors/specialists you could see? Where do you live?

Ah I see. I have no idea if there are any better neurologists here. I'm new to this. I've visited 3 neurologists so far and all three told me that it's in my mind and it will eventually go away. But after doing my own research this doesn't seems to go away that easily. And as I saw, this can be attributed to psychological factors as well as physical factors like peripheral neuropathy. Two of them told me to use Zolaram, the other one told me to use klonopin. But these are serious drugs with serious side effects. That's why I don't want to be using them. But tonight I feel so sleepy and tired and I have to take the pill. klonopin seems to be more dangerous though so i have decide to use only zolaram for the moment.
Once I realized that neurologists didn't take me seriously, as they didn't even suggest me to undertake any exams, I have visited a neurosurgeon .When I told him what's going on he told me that I should address to a neurologist. I'm kinda lost right now because I don't know what else to do. I've spend so much money to doctors, prescribed drugs and vitamins and yet the problem is still here. I live in Cyprus. I'm thinking to visit Greece for this issue because it has a good reputation in medical care and it's close to my country.

Hi Alex, this sounds similar to what I've been going through. I have similar jerks and also facing frequent urges to urinate. Did you finally find out what was wrong?
Kratom can calm "jerks" and let you get somme sleep. If the "jerk" could be otherwise addressed, without taking something that is harmful, that would be great. But I use Kratom because it is "legal" in Texas and doesn't harm me. I have something called "clonus". It is a repetitive kicking. I have it only in my stump,... where my amputated leg used to be attached to my body. Kick, kick, kick. Some nights it is extremely annoying. Kratom is my "go to" remedy. Maeng Da strain, or else Green Malay strain. It isn't legal in all states nor in all countries.

Is Kratom bad for your heart?
The effects of Kratom vary with dosage, which is why this drug is unpredictable. A stimulant effect is what is considered an “upper”, causing rapid bursts of energy, elevated heart rate, and restlessness. ... Many of the effects of Kratom are not yet widely known, which makes this drug potentially dangerous.
