I seem to be getting the worst of both worlds. I don't have enough feeling to know that the sore is getting started, but once it does get started, the pain is terrible and I can't sit on it at all. .
I can barely turn over far enough for someone else to take a photo of my bottom, and I have to hold onto the side bars to get into that position. I've tried to take a photo of it myself, but my arm won't stretch far enough. And then there's trying to hold the cellphone (camera) AND push the button with the same hand. Though I''m limber by nature, I can't see my bottom with a mirror. No amount of pulling and twisting will allow me to see my bottom with a hand mirror.

I know what you mean, I have one good hand to take photos and its very difficult to hold and press to take pic, even in an easy to reach body location its difficult. my ex checked butt last week and she says is clear, no marks. still concerned though with the sensitivity & irritation on left butt cheek.
Right. That's exactly what happens with me. I'll sense that something isn't right, but there's not enough sensory feedback to either confirm or deny it. If there's anything fungal going on, smear a dab of cream containing zinc oxide on it. If you might have scratched it, put a cream with aloe vera on it,...or rub a slice the actual peel of the (gooey) aloe vera plant on it. I bought a huge aloe vera leaf at the grocery store, ate the interior (in several sessions), and froze the peel (cut in manageable-sized pieces). I keep it in a clean plastic container in the door of my freezer, for easy access. Last week, a friend came by with a red face from some kind of chemical burn she had given herself, and I was so proud to be able to just open my freezer and hand her a remedy, a piece of frozen aloe vera peel. She immediately rubber it all over her face.
Regarding photos of our backsides, I don't have one of those 'selfie-sticks'. Might that solve our problem?
I'm sad to say,...no, not for me, Lara. I was given a mirror with a very long, flexible stem when I was in the hospital,...longer even than the one in your photo. I used it for seeing what I was doing when cathing myself. (TMI? Naw, not on this forum. ) And I tried it at home for seeing my bottom. The main reason for me that a mirror will never work is that I wear glasses. Looking out of the corner of one's eye while wearing glasses is pretty worthless for seeing anything small, since there's no 'glass' there.
To be honest, I did doubt if it was any good vintage, they bring out these wonderful inventions that cost way too much and many are of no good purpose.
vintage, and sam, would one of those "selfie sticks" work for you? I see people use them all the time for 360 degree videos. Something like this, maybe?
I disagree with you on that vintage, proof is required, I wanna see detail of someone's ass to see if a selfie stick would work. is that too much to ask?
I am posting this mostly to remind other members to be vigilant in recognising the start of a pressure sore. Many of us, when we think of what a pressure sore is, we imagine the very grim looking deep and open wounds that are oozing with infection.
Well as everything does, they it all starts somewhere and my post is also because I have developed a Stage 1 pressure sore on my calf area at the bag of my left leg. It took me more so by suprise because I am very active, whilst I use a chair I can also walk on crutches but due to previous DVT's, I need to raise my legs every day. This has been the issue because although the recliner that I use is padded, the issue is more so due to the fact that on this part of my leg, there is no muscle really so the pressure is more so to the skin and to the bone.
I know from reading in the past that no matter how it looks externally, internally is another matter because there is more significant damange underneath, General guidance is to remove the cause of pressure, which in my case is the recliner and try a cushion that supports the legs without adding pressure.
I am hoping that within a few days it goes and then I just need to practise careful management. It would be more easily resolved if I did not need to minimize the potential of further blood clots but as I have had 3 already, I need to give priority to the management.
My right leg isnt affected at all, which is due to the fact that the muscle wastage is less on this leg which really does reinforce how the vigilant we need to be. Where this sore is, it is over a 4 inch area by 3 inch so it is quite significant.
Anyways, just a reminder to keep a look a look out because changes can creep upon is quite unaware at times. If anyone would find it useful I can post a pic!
Lara please post a pic to give us a wake up call 🐘🐘and treat urgently
