That's pretty cool deanertheweiner! I've never seen or heard of a machine like that. I think it's great that you've noticed improvements since using it! Do you still use it or was it only a three month thing?
I used again for another 3 months about 1 year later, but didn't notice much change the 2nd round.
Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

Oh I see. Too bad it doesn't improve the more you use it! Did it help you sleep better at night?
deanertheweiner..i have a question...you explained that your speech has been affected...was your speech delayed?..was the difficulty partly due to also processing information and the translating it and responding?
If someone talked to you now, is there a slight delay in responding whilst you process whats said to you and then reply?

Early in my recovery my breathing was so shallow I could only say one word at a time. It also made my voice very low in volume. I also damaged all the parts of my brain including the one that controls speech and mouth movement. Early on I wouldn't do the full lip movement to pronounce certain sounds. For example: my r's would sound like w's. All those things combined made it extremely difficult to understand what I was saying.
Like I said my ABI affected my thinking, concentration and attention which slowed down conversation because I couldn't keep up, on top of the other person or persons not being able to understand my speech. Needless to say early on you had to be very very patient to have a conversation with me.
Now most to all of those problems have resolved Lαrα. Praise The Lord
Wow deanertheweiner...you have done amazingly well!! Thankyou for explaining further
Prior to my injury i went to Uni to become qualified in working with students in school with various difficulties...i worked closely with one boy for some time who had speech and language problems. His brain worked slower than the 'normal' rate and processed everything slowly, it affected his speech so i worked one to one with him daily on speech therapy with him. He speech eventually became understandable and more natural but he had to work so hard at it......
I can appreciate the effort and achievement it must have taken to make the progress you did!!....very well done!
deanertheweiner, I remember when I first met you at rehab I really struggled making out what you were saying and I noticed how difficult it was and how much effort you had to put in just to say one work! Comparing yourself now and then, I've think you've improved significantly and it'll only get better. Keep up the speech therapy, singing and stuff and you'll definitely continue to improve. Good stuff though buddy, you've done great

Wow that's very noble of you! So I guess you can kind of understand what I've been through with the ABI and SCI. Yes it's hard work, but I'm not the lazy type

deanertheweiner, I can understand indeed...SCI itself is bad enough but to deal with but to also deal with the ABI that caused your loss of normal speech must have presented you with a multitude of challenges....re-developing speech is such a slow process that many wouldn't understand.......and i doubt you are lazy at all..youve had some serious work to do ........ ever thought of writing book?
I wanna write a book one day for sure Lαrα!! make sure you buy a copy! Don't download it for free
deanertheweiner....il buy yours if you buy mine .....start by doing a book proposal...i did one some time ago..nothing injury related but it was to guide people how to work correctly with pupils with autism in school...
So book proposal first and then send that to publishers...when you find an editor who is interested...start writing away....and soon enough your book will be on sale!
If you want any advice on how to put a proposal together, im happy to help..or i could even start a thread about it!
