Many of us are unable to work. Many of us lost homes, cars, savings, and other assets due to our condition. With our mobility and health issues, we often need things that we can’t afford. I, for one, live below the Federal Poverty Level Guidelines (for the USA). Do you? Especially if you live below the Federal Poverty Level Guideline, have you found a way to earn a little extra income? Do you use the internet to earn extra income?
what really irritates me is the fact there is no tax credits or deductions that can help the disabled if we cant work. since its tax day in the US ive had to pay last year $750 and this year $981. doesn't make much sense to tax the disabled to make them more poor and need more assistance. of course I cant pay now so I will be penalized and have to pay more taxes later. my tax rant for the day.
I know why it is just ridiculous that because I used Obamacare and used the lower priced health insurance the govt makes you pay a part back at tax time that they subsidize so health ins is more affordable.
But, back to those couple of questions I asked, because I’m wanting to gather some information. —Especially if you live below the Federal Poverty Level Guideline, have you found a way to earn a little extra income? Do you use the internet to earn extra income?—
hi vintage, I was on bed for 2.5 years before I returned back to work on wheelchair. During that period, after recovering from mental trauma, for one year, I did things online to earn money.
I do not knoa if it helps or not but just sharing what I did. 1. Because I am a software developer, I did projects on freelancer - I stopped this very soon as I saw other people bidding projects are much lower prices. Not worth effort. 2. Did a youtube channel - For first two months, earnings were none.. then for 6-7 months, earnings were decent and then many channels popped up in same lines and earnings went down. Effort was not worth and closed it. 3. Giving training sessions online(Teaching) - You will have to register with some source based on what you want to teach.. Earnings were good. But I couldnt spend much time for it so I thought what I was doing is not justified and hence stopped. But I think this is a good option. 4. User experience testing - This is unskilled job. You will have to test apps that are in beta testing. Testing is not technical but just on user experience. Many people does it for free for major companies just because they get satisfaction for getting their hands on virgin apps.. But there are few companies who pays for it. 5. Blogs - I am Indian so blogger doesnt alow me to put ads till 6 months after starting blog. So, I built a website and wrote stuff.. It didnt garner much traction.. Was a disaster. I had no interest in putting more content.. so stopped it. But you may try in blogger for free and it anyways allows you to put ads from start, so if blog takes off, that would be a good deal.
