Oh, Tarabev, so sorry. (Pre-injury) I used to ride, even bareback, when I was eleven. :/ Did the horse notice? Lol.
Gee...just imagine if I had been riding bareback and that happened, at least with a saddle and feet in irons, I was able to lean a bit forward so it wasnt squishing it a lot more so it spread even further..... well, goes to show theres a positive thought to everything...thanks Vintage!
... This was a about 4 years after my accident and this was one of the times when it really hit home (again) that I would never be 'normal'
Ah well.... as they say....s*** happens ...
tarabev , sorry for this - can imagine the situation (ok, was not on a horse..... ). And exactly whis was/is my feeling after: "....... that I would never be normal.......".
Best wishes !
After 20 years now of not being 'normal', its now second nature for me to spy where the closest toilets are in case of a potential accident. As for the feeling of never being normal again, it still hits me at times
tarabev, absolutely like here. My mind is full of this strategies when going out......
My problem is: The colon is "sleeping, para". The small intestine is active like in abled times. Had all my life perfect BM. So for the small intestine its still the same, very active - but the colon dont want it. Its not a good duo .... no harmony between colon and small intestine. So feeling very often upper area: OMG, there is something going on..... but down there the colon is sleeping. And sometimes he let the product of his partner small intestine just pass through....
The Professor told me, only a ileostomy is "my solution". But this decision is far away at the moment.
I presume that caths ensure she only leaks a little in between, but having a lumbar (cauda equina) injury may leak out the bottom.
When Depends became too baggy after my weight loss causing leaks and the pads would slide to the side, I switched to GoodNites brand children's diapers. Immediately, my confidence was boosted with the cute designs and panty like fit. Even though I have my bladder well managed, I still wear them daily. With my active lifestyle I like the piece of mind that if I have an accident my wheelchair cushion and clothes will still be dry. I simply rip the diaper off, clean my downstairs "area" with a baby wipe, put a new diaper on and wheel on my way.
GoodNites are sold as DryNites in Australia. She can still get into kiddie pull-ups.
