That looks great, Karen67. I’m clueless on how you did that. It’s a little like millifiori, but the pieces have a different arrangement from millifiori. How did you do that? Here’s a glass millifiori that I found, somewhat similar to your bowl.
That looks nice, too. You can actually do millifiori with polymer clay. You can combine metal, beads and a variety of items with clay to make, jewelry, figurines like fantasy creatures, animals, or people, clocks, containers, and much more. The best way to find out more about it is to search polymer clay on YouTube. Use more detailed searches like "...for beginners", ""what is...", millifiori...", etc.
ibra73, good to know! Life expectancy was one of the things I looked up in those first weeks in the hospital after being hit by a car. It seems like, yes, we average shorter lives. But there are so many variables. I have internal injuries from the accident that cause me pain ‘five years in’. If it were just the paralysis, I think my life would be much healthier,...and longer. But all it really takes is one serious “event” with no one to help, and a doctor who doesn’t take it seriously, and that can be the deathblow to the strongest among us.
I know what you mean. On Oct 2nd, I went to ER, reluctantly because I'm a very hard stick for IVs and usually suffer for it. I had been throwing up for 2 days and nights. Also my foley and tubing had thick sediments in them and my during was a deep brown color. If it were not for my wound care nurse coming by in the morning and telling me to go to the ER, I probably would have died. I had a bad UTI infection that made me septic.
I was injured when I was 14 in 1979. I'm 54 now and not going anywhere. Too much to see and do. Too many new weed strains to try.
Maybe it is easier to adapt when it happens to you at a young age, I do not know. I became paralyzed at 48 and am now 52.
I have no transportation other than what my Medicaid insurance pays for which is only for medical-related trips, plus 1 non-medical trip per month. There are many places to which I wish I could travel, but it just is not possible. Besides, most of the places to which I want to go are not power chair accessible, mostly ancient ruins. And being on disability, I cannot even afford to travel to accessible places like around the US, much less other countries!
I'm not that sure it is, my sons fusion has to be redone at 12 then probably again at 16. It might be easier from a psychological perspective but not physical.

Could be, but we all probably have physical issues and dangers related to being paralyzed that never ends. As I mentioned in a response to another party to this thread, I just hot out of the hospital after 19 days due to becoming septic from an UTI infection.
Karen67, thanks for stating your situation. I’ve kept my mouth shut on forums for paralyzed people when others talk about their trips, the hotels here and there, the rims on their off-road wheelchair or motorcycle,...because I want other people to have fun,...and because we need friends to be happy for us when something goes right. But the truth is, I’m just like you. No transportation other than the trips to the doctor. I think I get more of those trips than you do. It depends on which (free) insurance one gets. And I watch travel shows on TV. A kindred spirit to you.

Whereabouts do you live? My husband and I have been blessed to be able to afford adaptive equipment and a vehicle. We are in Idaho and always looking for people to take fishing, hunting, shooting, or just for a drive. I completely understand what you are saying. Life is hard enough for us, I can’t imagine not having a vehicle that we could both ride in, let alone the thousands of other items we have acquired and/or built.

I am in Orange Park, FL, a suburb of Jacksonville, FL.
I'm sure hoping I can live on quite some time yet being 46. It's not hard to be positive, but but interesting to understand as being damaged is of great concern. Hoping I can navigate to success or as successful as I can try to be. I survived a T2-T4 injury.
