Hi guys. Am spending my third day in the Walton Centre hospital after a dramatic increase in symptoms which centre's around uncontrollable right leg spasms and total trunk numbness. All is improving now. Had an MRI scan yesterday which has not shown up anything new and requiring instant surgery. Just as well as my consultant is in Italy all next week. If you're reading this and are in the hospital I am in Caton ward come and say hi. Thanks for reading.

So sorry to know that you're in hospital. Glad that the MRI is clear, I hope they find out what caused your leg spasms and numbness. Its frightening when our bodies do something new and we dont know why.

Further than Dallas to Houston, and we don't have flights to do that, only late trains and potholed roads . . .

Well, catheterboy, that's quite a dramatic post. It must have been very frightening to find your leg suddenly going numb. When you had an MRI scan were they looking for signs of a stroke (head scan) or did they scan your spinal cord? Are you in a general hospital or a Spinal Unit? Here in the UK, general hospitals are often a nightmare where spinal injury is concerned. I went to A&E recently and saw 3 doctors, none of whom knew what autonomic dysreflexia was. All the best to you and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Good news am going home today. Thanks mikeq. Yes the Walton Centre is a spinal and brain hospital. I believe it's on the TV tonight at nine o'clock on the BBC I think a documentary. Brain injury was ruled out the first day by an exhaustive examination by a neurologist. The MRI was on my spine. Everything has calmed down now. Will be glad to be home. That everyone.

Did you find out the reason why you had an increase in numbness and spasms?

Ok, its good that you know the reason why. Can that stenosis also be removed or is too dangerous to mess around in there? Can anything be done?
