peacewillcome, have you ever done a bladder flush/irrigation? If so, it's the same procedure but instead of flushing with saline you use the Vetericyn!

peacewillcome you need a push syringe that will fit into the end of the catheter put the Vetericyn in the push syringe and put the syringe into the end of the catheter and push it in. I think a lot of people use 20cc

I have never done this. I have only cathed.
Oh ok I think you should see if your urologist can show you how to do these bladder flushes/irrigations if you're interested in using the Vetrycin. Incase you're wondering, tbone57 has explained how to do the flush in his post above.

Ok here are some pkctures of my 12 french speedicath compact catheters that i use including a shot of the end. I dont see how i can put a syringe in anywhere sorry if i am so stunned:)
Doesn't look like it's possible with those catheters peacewillcome. They're different catheters with special ends. I wish I could take a picture but I don't have any of those catheters nearby.
peacewillcome, those are the same catheters that i use an it wont be possible with those catheters. I think you certainly need to speak with your urologist because you will need a prescription for a different type of catheter. I have never done a bladder flush but i would imagine you need to use a catheter that has an option on the tubing to open an close. So you can open and then insert the syringe into the tubing into the bladder and then drain it out.
Can you see how this tubing can be open and closed at the green connector..this is what you would need to allow you to bladder flush.
Do you have a continence nurse who can come and do a flush for you?
Here is a video of how to flush with a foley catheter..its just to give you an idea. Im sure people adopt their own way of how to especially if from advice from their bladder nurse etc but take a watch of the video.

Lαrα@admin Thanks. I will talk to the nurses and doctor next week at the clinic I have tried many other catheters and i like my speedicath compact plus a lot They seem to be such a handy length and easy to use and i am lucky my insurance covers them The longer speedicaths i used previously would often poke my bladder
Perhaps i will need a separate system if i need to flush or want to inject and then use my regular catheters for cathing. Would that make sense?
That makes perfect sense peacewillcome and that's exactly what I do. I have completely different catheters for bladder flushes/irrigations. The nurses and doctors should be able to recommend some good catheters bad show you how to do it.
Okay...just bought some Vetericyn VF in the UK - I'm guessing it's the same formula worldwide? I've been suffering (and am right now) from UTIs almost permanently. Here's to hoping! Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.
