yes, vintage, you raise an interesting point in your last paragraph. It's one that I have neglected to mention. My legs are incredibly sensitive. If I rub or scratch them my blood-pressure shoots up a little. It's a great way of inducing a spasm which elevates the blood pressure. Sometimes when I feel very feint I asked my wife to scratch my legs. She claws at them, like a cat scratching something. Then my blood pressure shoots up and I feel instant relief. To the onlooker it can appear quite strange, my wife scratching my legs and me breathing an orgastic sigh of relief as my blood pressure raises.

What fun, Mike, and it is always good to remind the public that high quads have imagination when it comes to pleasure.
an interesting and somewhat amusing post, Tetra. I can imagine the guy falling asleep on his plate. I wonder what stimulant the doctor gave him? I'll have some amphetamines. Haven't had any for many years. LOL
He was given ephedra but this is a very bad idea in the heat. It makes people feel sick. Oxilofrine is another prescription drug that raises BP.
I step in the water, but the water has moved on...
mikeq, besides the “likes this” button, I need an “Lol” button for your above post. You’ve made me feel “smart” by confirming the validity of my theory. Sometimes we forget to share some of the things we’ve figured out. I hope it will help Taanshi and Prairie.
Hi Mikeq. I tried your method on Jack but it didn't work. His legs are totally flaccid. It seems like an odd way to raise blood pressure, but funny at the same time. I wonder why it works on you? What is so special about your legs that scratching them makes your blood pressure go up? Maybe you should submit yourself for scientific research. You may have the answer that doctors are looking for - the alternative way of raising blood pressure without taking medication.
I’m guessing the the answer lies in the word “flaccid”, plainjaney. My body relaxes and looks limp, but touching it or moving it evokes a reaction,...muscles contract, my knee bends or else straightens. Unpleasantly, my clonus also gets activated,...that’s an almost rhythmic kicking, in my case, of the stump of my left leg. So, it seems that “flaccid” vs “non-flaccid” would be the determining factors.
Blood pressure is scary. It's very scary when you live alone. Yesterday, I went to the doctor and my BP was 160/120 and I can drop down to 80/60 in a second. Doctors don't understand. I think the salt suggestion is good, you just don't want to go too high but salt will raise your blood pressure. Do the opposite of what they tell you do in commercials because most people are trying to lower their blood pressure not raise it. When it drops so low you just pass out...no blood pressure = no life.
So we are in the midst of pretty crazy summer heat. It's been in the 30Cs since last week, reaching 38C with humidity yesterday and today. Drew (Taanshi79) generally doesn't tolerate heat well, having to limit his time outside to short periods in the mornings and evenings (much to his dismay). We noticed that on top of the quickly overheating we're used to his blood pressure is also really taking a nosedive, going way lower than his usual lows. With it comes (to be expected) dizziness, fatigue and light headedness. Our best guess is the humidity as the culprit, because it's way more humid here than it was in the prairies. Now I've googled heat in connection with blood pressure and all I'm getting is hypertension, nothing about hypotension. Anybody got any insights for us?
I hate heat. If things get bad, I get a towel and soak it in water. Water will dissipate heat and lower internal temperature.
mikeq, I can trigger spasms for Drew, sometimes but not always. It is a good way to bring his blood pressure up in the instances I can. outlier, we do the wet towel thing, no sitting or being out and about in the summer sun without one. It does the trick up to a point, but seems to have worked better in drier prairie heat than it does here with high humidity.
Hello prairie. Scratching works a little bit. We had discovered the best thing is a nasal spray with ephedrine. You can buy them from the chemist. They're used to unblock noses. You have to be careful because too much will make the blood pressure goes skyhigh.
