For the 1st time, doctors have applied nerve transfer surgery for spinal cord injury and they are quite successful at that. However, the technique does have a few limitations and is not a cure for paralyzed people.

I’m T9 incomplete. I’m so grateful that both of my hands function. In the nursing home lunchroom, residents who had had strokes used to hold out their Frito chips bags, asking me to come open them for them. And their speech was unintelligible. It made my “paralyzed from the chest down, missing one leg” condition seem less severe.
