Hi all. Four weeks ago I was about to have another week in the Walton Center hospital near Liverpool. I thought about posting about it on hear but was really tired. The one thing that I tried whilst in was to let them put me in pull ups instead of my usual side tape fitting full pad. At first I said no but as my supply was dwindling I agreed and was amazed at how much easier it was to get them on. I still needed help but none of the rolling about all over the place from side to side and less embarrassing really. I have a permanent catheter and have recently gone up to a size 18 which is big for a penile insertion. The large size is to try and stop bypassing but I still do bypass so some form of pad is needed. Anyway so far so good I have used up all the ones they sent me home with but have bought some Tena ones and all is good. I Will wait a few weeks though before contacting my health service to have my prescription ones changed I want to make sure. Just wondering if any one else uses pull ups and how you find them and what type you use. Thanks
No. I’m making a joke. I’m not able to pull up “pull ups”. I’m the one who would be, as you said, “rolling about all over the place from side to side”. Congratulations that you can use them. In order to use the ones that were given to me, I have to cut them up both sides with scissors, put them “on”, then use a little strip of velcro on each side to keep the diaper in place. I was making a joke in my above post. (...guess I need to work on my “joke telling”.%)
I have been using pull-ups for some time now. Thanks to regular bowel routine, every second day, I rarely have any accidents. So most days I actually just use underwear but if I suspect I may have an accident because of what I ate, then I wear pull-ups. Obviously, it's much easier for staff to clean up when they just rip off the pull-ups by tearing open the side panels. I use the depends realfit.

I may have been a bit premature with the praise for the pull ups. I want them to work so badly because they are cooler and more discreet. I now think it's not particularly more easy to get them on just different. Def less embarrassing though. I will use what I have bought and see how I feel but am not at the moment going to ask for the prescription change. Thanks for your replies.
Okay, so,...”actually just use underwear” is a big clue. You aren’t confined to a wheelchair, are you midtoad ?
I have a complete T2 level injury, with no control/sensation for bowel/bladder and I wear regular underwear and very rarely have problems ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I think it just depends on what works best for you. I manage with a great bowel program every morning and taking a med to relax the bladder. I just watch when/how much I drink and try to plan around accessible bathrooms. Works quite well for me and I am 100% confined to a wheelchair.

Well I've done it. My local incontinent service phoned me back today and have agreed to swap me onto Tena Super pull ups. I am sure I have done the right thing. Will let you know how I get on with them.
