34 year old male. Experiencing worsening back pain over the last 6 months. Wondering what treatments might be most effective for me? Spinal doctor, chiropractor, pain management specialist, other?
There are wildly differing opinions on chiropractic care. I use it and benefit from it but insist that my Chiro never touch my fusion. I also look for low-force techniques.
Since your back pain has increased recently I would begin with an MRI to make sure something new is not happening.
I had chiropractic/massage for many year. I didn't always I getting immediate benefit after each session . Often first benefit I notice - I slept better. It took me a few years to find a good therapist.. Make sure they understand your SCI. is unique to you.
I do chiropractic and massage. My chiropractor was in my life prior to my accident as well as my massage therapist. I have been going about 4 times a month for a massage. Not sure where I would be without the massage. Since each time I go in they find tight spots.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Go through your attending Doctor first and get the MRI/XRAYS before having someone bend twist =manipulate your back and spine.
In the US, we would probably call an “attending doctor” the “primary care physician”. In the US, most primary care physicians are educated to believe that chiropractors are “quacks”. I love chiropractors.
Every since opiates became a bad thing the Dr's and insurance companies in the US are pushing therapy in the form of chiropractic care as well as needing, acupuncture and lazer

Agreed! However many do not know that low force technique, such as Activator Technique, does not use bending or twisting.
I step in the water, but the water has moved on...
