Thanks for the question, Monarch77. There is a joke our drs like "Medicine is the second exact science. A second after theology". It can be removed surgically, but has it pros and cons so. Prolonged recovery time and lots of complications possible versus blurry hope of pain relief.
My pain started 2.5 years post and I searched for relief for about 2.5 years in agony before I contacted a chiropractor.
