From past three months I am not understanding what exactly is happening to me. Some days I suffer from severe acidity. Some days I am ok. I always feel as if something is wrong with my body. Is it anxiety? Is it a type of mental illness?

Have your doc check to see if you might have H. Pylori. This causes acid reflux symptoms. If this is your diagnosis, the correct round of antibiotics will have you back to normal in a few days.
Well George, you've only been anxious for three months? I've been anxious about the way I feel for thirty years. I regard it as normal to be anxious when things are not right. It could be anxiety but anxiety is a normal psychological response to negative physical or mental stimuli. It is certainly not mental illness. If you suffer from severe acidity, then speak to your doctor about medication to calm your digestive system. The acidity could be your body responding to the anxiety. You should also mention this to your doctor, the fact that you believe you're overly anxious. It's a chicken and egg syndrome, what comes first. Of course your doctor is bound to put you on antidepressants, which is what doctors tend to do nowadays instead of getting to the actual source of your anxiety. Once you're on antidepressants you'll find it very hard to get off them. Best to leave them alone and deal with your anxiety in your own way. Using a forum like this to actually voice your opinion is therapeutic and could help. Purchase a couple of self-help books on how to deal with anxiety. In the meantime ask your doctor for some omeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor, which blocks the production of acid) to calm your stomach and maybe some Gaviscon to calm acid indigestion, which produces a burning sensation in your oesophagus. By the way, welcome to the madhouse.
