Kiddo was swimming at school today, while getting out of the pool his teacher noticed his toes and ankle move! I was told pretty quickly, I saw him shortly after he was able to replicate it! He suddenly has some toe and ankle movement! This wasn't there a week ago! I do PT with him every morning, there was nothing!

Wow...thats really exciting nathanau , is it voluntary movement? And if it is, your son not moving a week ago could have been down to something simple like he just hadn't tried to move it. When I first started getting some movement back, it didn't happen unless I tried really hard...that first bit of movement was my right big toe only, a few days later, I moved my thumb, I wasn't able to move anything else for a while. My Dad was with me when I was able to move that big toe again for the first time and know how excited you must feel Nathan....any bit of movement returning is a positive
People tend to think that if/when movement returns, its all of the body when a lot of the time, it may just be a body part which moves first
I questioned him if he has to try 'hard' to do it, he said no its just like before the accident. No movement in his legs just one ankle and toes, we tried with his other leg this morning during pt time, nothing happened.
Having movement recover when there was none, is momentous because with even some voluntary movement, one can strengthen that area Please keep us informed of what happens with your son.
it also has to do with range of motion and muscle strengthening, my left hand and foot is able to do more every day because I am "trying hard" to increase muscle strength in those areas. i have to concentrate when i do use my left hand. I am able to do a weak fist when a year ago I was barely using at all. so just keep the strengthening going and you never know what might come back.
