Happy New Year dear members and staff!! Was 2019 your newbie year? Best progress year? Most challenging year? Added another wheel chair accident story to your collection?
My 2019 was jam packed with loss. My car broke down, over $2k to fix. Projector blew, another $2k replacement. Won't list the other things that joined the breakage party. My husband lost his in April, still no replacement job. He did work 6 weeks freelance. In may, his Dad was diagnosed with bone cancer. In September we had to put our cat Snickers down. Stage IV kidney failure. She was 18yrs, 7 mo. Lifting too much weight my husband suffered a hernia tear, got the surgery right away. Just healing from his surgery, his Dad's cancer quickly advanced with a few months to live. Died 6 weeks after that news. And now my husband is getting over the flu. He celebrated the New Year belting down cough syrup and falling asleep before the New York ball dropped. Any good news? YES! We rescued a kitty from the shelter. Giving Snickers a nice long life, no guilt to shower another with our love. Named her Trixie. We gleefully thanked God for parents teaching us to plan for life's blowouts. Our savings have been propping us up. 4th quarter job interviews were for the New Year. Now in 1st quarter, we'll see what happens. In sum, 2019 hogged up 5yrs.of negative waves. Please send good thoughts and prayers we have a positive 2020.
fishkybizniz, you’re a real trooper. Trixie doesn’t know yet what a good deal she got. The Dad’s cancer moved lightening fast, didn’t it? What kind of projector was that? Thanks for sharing.

LOL! Started with trooping, now we're wearing waders. Like Dori said, just keep swimming. The projector is in lieu of TV. Our house is small. Going this route we get 72" of picture without using anything bit a few inches of ceiling space. The fan went out in the old one, causing it to over heat shattering the glass refracters.

We don't know what Trixie went through her 1st 6mo of life but we do know she lived in the shelter cage 8mo before we got her out of there. I'm convinced she never lived in a house. Afraid of everything including us to start. Plenty of info online how to build trust. Patience and consistency she's made remarkable progress. She's a little love bug, sleeping on my lap right now. She made me her favorite. So far, Daddy's a fun playmate. I'm training her to be more confident. She's eager to please, so it doesn't take much to stop unwanted behaviors. From my view, she rescued me as much as I for her. Losing Snickers was huge. All the folks here understand how lonely being homebound gets. Signals is not the only thing we battle. We have to take care of our emotional strength. My tag "God gave us pets because he knew adults would need Teddy Bears too"
