I'd like to ask if anybody here were referred to psychotherapist for chronic pain (such a referral is based mostly upon sensitization and pain centralization theories).

I was suggested by my absolutely useless medical free help, which I have to use to get sick lieve at one of my 4 jobs, lol, post surgery. Of course, this one I'm gonna do only in case it is required by insurance and if it is free as I really do think it is completely waist of my time.

Did any of you have seen psychotherapists for chronic pain management and if so were they completely useless?

I am sure it will be useless new, as you seem to have decided it will be already! Maybe try it with a more open mind and less judgement?
There is some good evidence that things like CBT work for pain management. Some people have been helped a lot by psycho-therapeutic interventions - and if medicines aren't working then what's to lose by giving it a try?. Pain is controlled by the nervous system and the brain and spinal cord are very much in charge in that department.

Thank you for your opinion. I know I'm judgemental. So thought might be somebody's experience may prove me wrong. Meanwhile I have denied psychotherapy, instead I have made my drs refer me to physiotherapy as I believe this one is gonna be more useful.

In kiddo's case, he had a very had time coping with the pain caused by his injury in the initial couple of weeks, though a psychiatrist and psychologist became involved, they embarked on a regimen of psychotherapy with him that helped him cope and lessen his anxiety, it wasn't a magic bullet but it sure did help.
