For me it was a suppository with manual extraction for nearly 30 years. Then I lost about 40 lbs. and my pants were way to big. I used a slide-board to transfer to and from my chair. What I didn't know is that in fighting to get my board in the right position I scrapped some skin off my backside. It became infected and developed into a sore. My doctors said it was a shearing wound and just as difficult to heal as a pressure sore. I ended with a colostomy before they did a flap on the wound which had tunneled to the bone and even that became infected. I was on vanco for 9 full weeks after the surgery and since it has healed I was given the option to switch back but I decided to stay with the colostomy since it didn't take a few hours to empty my bowel. The disadvantage is when you're gassy it makes some weird sounds and if you get an intestinal bug you need another pair of hands to keep from making a very smelly mess.
