Hi Folks. I am a T2-3 complete paraplegic of 21 years. Like many with SCI, my bowel and bladder routine took some time to develop, but after the first year, I was down to one or two bowel accidents a year. This continued on for many years. About two or three years ago, they started to become a little more frequent and they switched my bowel program to daily. This had little effect and my accidents were almost monthly. Now for the last 6 months I have almost weekly accidents. Although I hate the idea, I am at the point of starting to wear diapers daily as the cleanup is getting to be too much. Are their others of you who diaper daily to contain accidents? Is it really worth it?
I've been a C5-6 Tetra for 35 years, bowel routine every other night, and my butt had enough. I decided to get a colostomy and my surgery was 3 weeks ago. Much easier and in my opinion much better.

Hi. My son is C6-7 for 30 years. His bc is taking longer to finish. Up to 4+ hours. So trying to figure out options. Can you tell me if you can transfer in and out of bed/chair without bumping the colostomy bag?

Sorry to dig up such an old post. I’m scheduled for a colostomy in a week. Just wondering if you’re still happy with yours?
