I had a spinal injury over 20 years ago, I have always wore a AFO on my right foot, but my left foot has always been a 3/5 for movement, the past few months it has been feeling like I have lost some movement in it, this was confirmed by my recent appointment at the SI unit. They have told me I need to wear a afo on the left leg (not. Problem) and have booked me in for an mri ( just wondering if this is likely to be part of the ageing process (I’m 45 now) I stupidly googled it and feeling slightly concerned.. Anyway, would be great to hear from anyone with similar experiences :-)
Hi, kazoaz. I have no response. I'm just posting to say "hello". I'm T9 incomplete, and can move two toes,... on a good day. I might have been able to move four toes, except that the car that hit me took off my left leg, hence any extra toe movement. I'm still trying to figure out what I can do with those two toes that I can move. So, enjoy those AFO's. Things could have been worse. "Waves back." You'll have another buddy in a day or two. There are others here with similar mobility to you.
I have been partial for 11 years now, and wear AFO's on both legs. Even though I get PT often my legs seem to be getting worse and weaker. My friends and family are very supportive and help loading my wheelchair whenever they can but the inability to do it myself is depressing. I am 74 years old now and I can see the end of my time just over the horizon. When this mess started all those years ago, I was ab le to keep up with most of my group. Now I am just a burden to everyone. Not a good feeling. Hang in there, you have a long life to live. Enjoy it while you can.
