I’ve been dealing with uti since January. I have had a bladder augmentation for 7 years now. Ever since I’ve been dealing with uti’s. It originally put me in the hospital as I went septic. They let me out of hospital with iv antibiotic. Since then I’ve taken oral antibiotics 4 times with no cure. The oral antibiotics mitigate symptoms (not completely eliminate) but only for a time before symptoms return stronger. The urologist(s) want me to go to infectious disease doctor who then told me to go to a urologist. I’m tired of being sick and truthfully I’m scared. The last thing I want is to go back in the hospital and get poked a thousand times “again”. I’ve taken vintage up on the herbal tea so let’s see how that works. The urologist just put me on a medicine to make my bladder more acidic but from reading on here that seems sketchy.
I was told after my injury a vitamin c supplement would prevent them. Maybe that is similar to how your doctor wanted to make it acidic. I did get one in this nursing home, and they wanted to give me IV antibiotics. I asked for oral instead and was on one twice a day for 30 days I think. I was surprised how long it took to treat. They put me on Diflucan. Good luck
I used to have chronic UTIs. Even with prophylactic doses of oral antibiotics I would get one infection after another. I'd typically get an infection every month and a half or so. Cipro would clear it up, and then a month or so later I'd get another.
Eventually, I found a urologist who had a sub-sub-specialty in treating patients with complex neurological conditions (e.g., SCI). She started me on a gentamicin irrigation protocol. The results have been miraculous. It's been more than 4 years since my last UTI. I'm surprised by how uncommon it is for urologists to prescribe these to their patients. Maybe you can talk to your urologist about this option. Here's an article on the subject.
I had the same problem not as severe but I could not get rid of infection with antibiotics I use colloidal silver I get it at Amazon is the 500 ppm I take 3 droplets in juice every day and it cleared my uti also I drink thyme tea that works great too don't know if it will help you but it is worth a try is not expensive and for me it worked every time I had a test for uti after taking this the test is clean
