Hi, my name is Steven, my wife woke up on November 20th last year and couldn't walk, hasn't walked since, after numerous tests, neurological team said she had Functional Neurological Disorder, one part of her brain is sending messages, another part of the brain is blocking the messages.
FND is too much of A 'catch-all' diagnosis. anything from ticks to involuntary movements to total paralysis.
We've coped as best we could, then about 12 days ago we realised she was totally paralysed below the waste (her hands are also locked in the fist position, have been since February), as usual, hospital say "Its FND, nothing we can do, it sometimes gets better".
Have any other members become paralysed as a result of FND?
I have another question, and I may ask this in another topic on this forum.
My wife lost the ability to sit up when she became paralysed, when she sits, it's as if the bum cheek and thigh muscles have stopped working, and she just falls in whatever direction her body is leaning, I can understand this happening, but when I look for videos to show how people cope, it looks like nobody else has this problem, do people learn how to balance again using different methods?
