I do my BM once a day now, in the morning with no bowel meds now that I'm on the peristeen system. It used to be twice a day with movacol, coloxal with senna and mini enemas x 2 each morning, and sit for an average of two hours each sitting now it's all over in under 30 minutes, morning and night. It was a nightmare now I have a life.
I take laxatives every night and a suppository every morning a few minutes before getting on the commode. I can't have a proper bowel routine without talking either one. I really hope I won't need them in the long run because I've read that laxatives will relax the intestines to the point where they become "paralyzed" and as a result will make you constipated almost all the time.
What I eat definitely impacts the routine. If I eat too little or eat no fruits/vegetables the bowel routine doesn't go too well. If I eat a good amount and eat healthy, it goes great! I also drink a fruit smoothie everyday to help get a good amount of fibre in a "tasty" way
