Has anyone dealt with a femur break that wouldn't heal? My Ortho surgeon hasn't had any success with treatment after 8 weeks (using braces and casts) and surgery to place a rod at site is not a possibility due to weak bone. Found a 2nd Ortho surgeon who specializes in this type of problem can do rod, but attach upper femur and to calf bone. Downside: 2 inches shorter leg and possibility of knee not bending well if rod is in too long (6 months). Has anyone dealt with this issue before or type of surgery? Has anyone dealt with a shorter leg with wheelchair and daily activity?
rollingpastor my friend who is was in rehab with me broke bones in both her legs when she had her accident so although her bones were strong she does now have one leg shorter than the other.
I can ask her any questions that you may have because as she has been through some traumas with this too
I'm sorry to hear about that, it doesn't sound fun! Do they know why it's not healing? Could be from a lack of vitamins such as Cacium, Vitamin D, etc?
