After my injury people sometimes asked me, Do you have a hobby? My hobbies before my injury were in the outdoors. Today I am still asked time-to-time, do you have a hobby? If I say, "nothing right now", I feel a bit I must have a hobby otherwise people might think I'm depressed, or no longer care about life.
I always use "reading" as my fallback hobby when a new hobby has bored me, even though I do not really feel the need to read. Being a quadriplegia, my choices for hobbies are limited because I only enjoy a hobby I can do alone, without assistance.
I don't think your being stubborn dannygilman. I lost a lot of my hobbies after I got sick , all outdoor stuff. I think some folks just feel better if they know your doing something, even if it bores you to tears. People are always trying to give me books to read, I guess they're trying to be nice but its just a pain in the ass sometimes!!
Well my hobby was my horses but now its tarot reading...i love it. It fascinates me that when i have someone with me and i do a reading..i see a 'window' into their life.

You're not being stubborn minded. You will find a new passion in time.
My new hobbies post-accident are painting (I originally put the paintbrush in my mouth when my arm function was limited ), public speaking, watching movies, reading and being a fan for the Toronto maple leafs hockey club.
Do something today that your future self will thank you for.
