It results in a loss of movement and overall sensation, although some sensations that travel by way of the pathways that are still intact can be felt. Patients with anterior spinal cord syndrome usually have complete loss of strength below the level of injury with incomplete sensory loss. Generally, sensitivity to pain and temperature are lost while sensitivity to vibration and position are preserved.
