This is a great new invention that'll help many people all around the world!
Winter is the inventor of the Leveraged Freedom Chair (LFC). It is a low-cost wheelchair powered by two hand levers that function in a similar manner to gears on a bike. The higher you grab it, the more leverage you get when traversing over rough terrain like sand, mud, or unpaved road.
Grab down lower, and the machine can cruise along tarmac at five miles-an-hour. It is one of the most versatile wheelchairs on the market, and for the time being, it is aimed solely for disabled communities in the developing world.
Take a look at the link guys..this is a great product and im sure will help many people who find self wheeling hard work. It looks like it will make easier work of different terrains also
I couldn't help but thinking when i watched the video that it would be a good idea if the energy and motion used could be transferred into a dynamo kind of feature that initiated another useful function with the chair. Maybe transformed into power to give the arms a few mins break maybe?
If anyone would be interested in designing a prototype with me ..we could get be rich!!
Lαrα, I don't think an efficient dynamo will generate enough power to effectively power a motor to propel the chair. They're going to need a fairly powerful dynamo which'll create a lot of resistance while pushing, making it harder to push. The objective of this is to make pushing as easy as possible Good idea though
