They are LED lights. They were originally designed for bikes by Norilights, but have been re-designed to perfectly fit a wheelchair. They easily clip onto the outside of the wheel with a small light bar and battery pack.
While designing the lights we made sure:
They do not heat up. They never are obstructive of any part of the wheelchair. They are easy to turn on and off, especially easy for quads.
We are finishing the design and starting the production phase now. We are hoping for a target date of 11/1/13 for product launch. If you have further any questions do not hesitate to email me at Jennifer.Richards@cripstyles.com.

Thanks for the info cripstyles, it sounds great! @foxylotts, I agree, it can be worrying only having reflective strips at night! My manual chair doesn't even have reflective strips so I might consider getting these. My power chair on the other hand has bright head and tail light so that's good but I still haven't used it at night.

Head and tail are good but other road users need to be one step ahead at seeing us from the side view me thinks?? Vulnerable enough whilst out in dimly lit areas :/
Might try a new tactic and drive aggressively?! Could invest in a giant clowns horn and either frighten em to death or get em to crash peeing their pants with laughter lol
